Validators
Validators are the auctioneers and risk managers in the SecureTrade Bittensor subnet. They distribute credit line issuance requests, evaluate miner offers, select optimal offers, and manage the scoring and weight-setting process for TAO rewards distribution.
This document outlines how validators operate within the subnet and their interaction with both the Bittensor subnet and SecureTrade Application.
Getting Started as a Validator
Prerequisites: Ensure you have the necessary technical setup and understanding of the Bittensor network.
Configuration: Set up validator configuration and connect to the subnet.
Deployment: Run the validator node and begin processing credit line requests.
Core Responsibilities
1. Process Credit Line Issuance Requests (CLRs)
Receive CLRs from the SecureTrade Trader application containing:
- borrower_id: Buyer identity
- lockin_period: Time period for collateral lock-in
- borrower_data: Financial history, transaction details, risk profile
- metadata: Transaction context and user public safe address
- clr_id: Unique identifier for the credit line issuance request
2. Distribute Requests to Miners
- Broadcast CLRs: Send requests to all active miners in the subnet
- Collect Responses: Wait for miners to submit their credit line offers
- Timeout Management: Set appropriate timeouts for offer collection
3. Evaluate and Select Offers
- Initial Filtering: Remove invalid or incomplete offers
- Scoring: Calculate weighted scores based on multiple criteria
- Selection: Choose the optimal offer based on lowest premium and max credit amount
- Notification: Inform the winning miner to proceed with execution
4. Manage On-Chain Operations
- Weight Setting: Set miner weights on Bittensor based on performance
- Transaction Monitoring: Track on-chain execution of selected offers
- Performance Scoring: Calculate and update miner performance scores
- Reward Distribution: Manage TAO token distribution (41% to miners, 41% to validators, 18% to subnet creator)
How Credit Line Evaluation Works
Traditional Banking Process
In traditional trade finance, banks evaluate credit line applications through:
- Manual Review: Credit officers analyze financial statements and business plans
- Committee Decisions: Multiple stakeholders review and approve credit decisions
- Standardized Criteria: Banks use established risk assessment frameworks
- Relationship-Based: Existing customer relationships influence decisions
Digital Transformation
The SecureTrade validator automates this process:
- Real-Time Evaluation: Decisions made in minutes instead of weeks
- Objective Criteria: Algorithm-based selection eliminates bias
- Competitive Bidding: Multiple miners compete for the best terms
- Transparent Process: Clear evaluation criteria and selection logic
Selection Process
Evaluation Criteria
Primary Factors (70% weight)
- Premium Rate: Lower premiums are preferred, but not at the expense of quality
- Credit Amount: Higher credit amounts are generally better for traders
- Risk Assessment Quality: How well the miner analyzed the borrower's risk profile
Secondary Factors (20% weight)
- Response Time: Faster responses indicate better operational efficiency
- Offer Completeness: All required fields and documentation provided
- Historical Performance: Past success rate and reliability of the miner
Tie-Breaking Factors (10% weight)
- Network Participation: How actively the miner participates in the network
- Innovation Score: Use of advanced AI models and data sources
- Portfolio Health: Current risk profile and diversification
Scoring Algorithm
Total Score = (Premium Score × 0.4) + (Credit Amount Score × 0.3) +
(Risk Quality Score × 0.2) + (Performance Score × 0.1)Advanced Selection Logic
Outlier Detection
- Removes offers that are significantly different from the norm
- Prevents manipulation through extreme pricing
- Ensures fair competition among miners
Market Context
- Considers current market conditions and interest rates
- Adjusts scoring based on industry-specific risk factors
- Accounts for seasonal variations in trade finance
Risk-Adjusted Selection
- Balances premium rate with credit amount offered
- Ensures selected offers provide good value for traders
- Maintains network health by rewarding quality miners
Final Selection Process
- Initial Filtering: Remove invalid or incomplete offers
- Scoring: Calculate weighted scores for all valid offers
- Ranking: Sort offers by total score (highest first)
- Validation: Verify the top offer meets all requirements
- Selection: Choose the highest-scoring valid offer
- Notification: Inform the winning miner to proceed with execution
